About the treatment

A personalised approach to TCA peeling

A Strong TCA Anti-Ageing Peel is an intensive chemical peel designed to resurface the skin and improve the appearance of visible signs of ageing and sun damage.

TCA, or trichloroacetic acid, works by removing damaged surface skin cells and stimulating renewal within the deeper layers of the skin. This can help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation, age spots, rough texture and some acne scarring.

The strength and formulation of the peel will be selected according to your individual skin type, concerns and treatment goals. We use professional peels from leading medical skincare brands, including Obagi, Neostrata and Mesoestetic.

TCA peels are not suitable for all skin types. Your practitioner will assess your skin carefully during your consultation before recommending the most appropriate treatment.

How we approach it

Every chemical peel appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation where your practitioner assesses your skin type, concerns, medical history, current skincare routine and treatment goals.

We carefully consider factors including your skin tone, pigmentation, previous treatments, sun exposure and overall skin health when assessing whether a TCA peel is appropriate.

The strength and formulation of the peel will be selected according to your individual needs. Skin preparation may also be recommended before treatment to support the skin and help achieve a safe and effective result.

Your practitioner will explain what to expect during recovery and provide detailed aftercare advice to help protect your skin as it renews.

Who it’s for

A strong TCA anti-ageing peel is a popular choice for adults looking to significantly improve their skin quality and address visible signs of ageing and sun damage.

It may be considered for patients concerned about fine lines, wrinkles, pigmentation, age spots, uneven skin tone, rough texture or some types of acne scarring.

It can be used as a standalone resurfacing treatment or as part of a wider skin health and aesthetic treatment plan.

TCA peels are not suitable for everyone. Your practitioner will assess your skin and discuss whether this treatment is appropriate for your individual skin type, concerns and goals.

A strong TCA anti-ageing peel is not recommended immediately before or after significant sun exposure, including holidays where you are likely to spend extended time in the sun. We recommend avoiding treatment for at least 4 weeks before and after a sunny holiday to allow your skin to recover and reduce the risk of pigmentation changes.

What to expect

Recovery, results & aftercare

Recovery

Significant redness, sensitivity, dryness and peeling can occur following a TCA peel. Peeling usually develops over the days following treatment and can continue for around 5-7 days, depending on the peel and individual skin response. Your practitioner will provide detailed aftercare advice to support recovery and protect the newly resurfaced skin.

Results

Skin may appear smoother, brighter and more even as the peeling process settles. Improvements in pigmentation, texture, fine lines and overall skin quality continue to develop over the following weeks. Depending on your skin concerns and goals, a Strong TCA Peel may be repeated every 3-6 months to maintain and build on your results. Your practitioner will recommend the most appropriate treatment schedule for your skin.

Aftercare

Keep the skin moisturised and apply SPF 50 daily following treatment. Do not pick, peel or manually remove flaking skin, as this can increase the risk of irritation and pigmentation. Avoid active skincare ingredients and exfoliants while your skin is recovering. This includes retinol, AHAs, BHAs, glycolic acid and salicylic acid. Your practitioner will advise when these products can be safely reintroduced. Avoid makeup until advised by your practitioner and avoid sunbeds and significant sun exposure during recovery. Fake tan should also be avoided while the skin is peeling and recovering.
