Mild AHA Peel
Brighten dull skin and smooth texture with a gentle alpha-hydroxy-acid peel.
About the treatment
A personalised approach to AHA peels
A mild AHA peel is a professional chemical peel designed to exfoliate the skin, improve texture and reveal a brighter, smoother complexion.
Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), including glycolic acid, work by loosening the bonds between dead skin cells. This helps remove surface build-up that can leave skin looking dull, rough or uneven.
The type and strength of AHA peel used will depend on your skin type, concerns and treatment goals. At The Academy Clinic, we use a selection of professional chemical peels from leading medical skincare brands, including Obagi, NeoStrata and mesoestetic®.
AHA peels can help improve a range of skin concerns, including dullness, uneven texture, superficial pigmentation, sun damage, acne-prone skin and the appearance of fine lines.
How we approach it
Every chemical peel appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation where your practitioner assesses your skin type, concerns, medical history, current skincare routine and treatment goals.
Your practitioner will select the most appropriate AHA peel and strength for your skin. This personalised approach helps ensure the treatment is appropriate for your skin while targeting your specific concerns.
Your practitioner will also provide personalised advice on preparing your skin and caring for it after treatment, including which skincare ingredients to avoid and how to protect your skin from UV exposure.
Who it’s for
A Mild AHA Peel is suitable for adults looking to improve overall skin quality, including brightness, texture, tone and signs of ageing.
It can be tailored to a range of skin concerns, including dullness, uneven skin tone, superficial pigmentation, photo damage, fine lines and acne-prone skin. It can also be used alongside other aesthetic treatments as part of a personalised skin treatment plan.
AHA peels are not recommended immediately before or after significant sun exposure, including holidays where you are likely to spend extended time in the sun. We recommend avoiding treatment for at least 4 weeks before and after a sunny holiday to allow your skin to recover and reduce the risk of irritation and pigmentation changes.

Recovery, results & aftercare
Recovery
Mild redness, tightness, dryness or light peeling may occur following an AHA peel. Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately, although the skin may continue to exfoliate over the following days. Follow your personalised aftercare advice and avoid active skincare ingredients, excessive heat and direct sun exposure while your skin recovers.
Results
Your skin may look brighter and feel smoother following treatment as dead skin cells are removed from the surface. Improvements in skin texture, pigmentation and overall skin quality develop as the skin continues to renew. A course of AHA peels may be recommended for more noticeable and longer-lasting results.
Aftercare
Mild dryness or light peeling may occur for up to 2 days following treatment. Apply moisturiser regularly and use SPF 50 daily. Avoid makeup on the treated area for 24 hours. For 7 days, avoid exfoliants and active ingredients, including glycolic acid, salicylic acid and retinol. Avoid fake tan for 14 days and significant sun exposure or sunny holidays for at least 4 weeks.
