Are you suitable for Tear Trough Filler?

Tear trough before & after

“‘You look tired'” are the three dreaded words no one wants to hear after a good night’s sleep! Under-eye hollowing and dark circles go hand in hand with ageing; however, some people might be more predisposed.

Tear trough filler treatments have become increasingly popular over the years, helping to diminish that tired look, resulting in an instant, more youthful, and refreshed appearance with minimal downtime. This blog dives deeper into tear trough treatments: what they are, how they work, and if they’re right for you!

What are Tear Trough Fillers?

Tear trough fillers are a type of dermal filler specifically designed to address concerns in the under-eye area. As we age, we naturally lose volume in this delicate region, leading to hollowness, dark circles, and a tired appearance.

Tear trough fillers use hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the skin, to restore lost volume, smooth out wrinkles, and create a brighter appearance.

Are You a Suitable Candidate for Tear Trough Fillers?

While tear trough fillers can be a great option for many patients leading to incredible results, it isn’t a treatment that works for everyone! At The Academy Clinic, we follow a strict pre-screening process where we require you to send images before your consultation to determine if this is the appropriate treatment for you.

Here are some signs you might be a good candidate:

  • Noticeable hollowness under your eyes
  • Dark shadows under your eyes
  • Deep tear troughs

What makes you an unsuitable candidate for Tear Trough?

  • Having no hollowing under the eye, meaning there would be no area for the hyaluronic acid filler to go
  • Having under-eye ‘bags’ – permanent pouches under the eyes
  • Having really loose unde skin around the eyes.
  • If you are prone to swelling or puffiness around the eye or upper cheek that doesn’t resolve within an hour of waking up in the morning
  • Any type of infection around the eye area

Benefits of Tear Trough Fillers:

  • Reduced hollowness and dark circles: By restoring volume, tear trough fillers effectively diminish the appearance of sunken under-eyes and alleviate shadows that contribute to dark circles
  • Brighter and more awake eyes: By addressing hollowness and shadows, tear trough fillers can dramatically improve the overall look of your eyes, making them appear brighter and more awake
  • Minimal downtime: Tear trough filler is a minimally invasive procedure, with around 1-3 days recovery time
  • Natural-looking results: When performed by a skilled and experienced practitioner, tear trough fillers provide subtle yet noticeable improvements, leaving you with a naturally refreshed look
  • Immediate and long-lasting results: Depending on the amount of filler needed, more than one treatment might be required to reach the final result, however, the results should then last approximately 12-18 months

The Academy Clinic’s Commitment to Safe and Effective Treatment:

Patient safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. For this particular treatment, pre-screening and an on the day thorough medical consultation are essential to guarantee you’re suitable for treatment and it is the best option for you.

Tear trough is an advanced treatment, and at The Academy Clinic, it will only ever be carried out by experienced medical professionals who understand the intricate anatomy of the under-eye area.

All our trainers and trainees are trained to the highest standard, utilising advanced techniques and top-quality products. Each treatment is also supervised by our specialist trainers to ensure optimal results and minimise the risk of complications.

How long does the treatment take?

The tear trough appointment is usually 1 hour to ensure there is enough time for a thorough consultation and questions. If you choose to proceed with the treatment, it usually takes no more than 20 minutes.

Does Tear Trough treatment hurt?

This depends on your personal pain threshold; however, it is generally considered a minimally painful procedure. The tear trough solution contains some anesthetic, and the procedure typically involves only a few injection points. Our specialist trainers strive to make the experience as comfortable as possible for you.

Ready to achieve brighter, more youthful eyes?

If you would like to book a tear trough treatment, email the team clear, well-lit photos of the following angles:

  • Front-facing looking directly at the camera
  • Chin tilted down but eyes looking up to the camera
  • Oblique 45-degree angle (showing both sides of your face in separate photos)
  • Record a short video of your face slowly turning to show different angles

Our expert team will then review your images and determine whether tear trough filler is the right option for you.
