Improving Your Comfort During Lip Filler

Lip filler is one our most popular injectable treatments at The Academy Clinic. However, we understand first time patients may have concerns over pain levels or discomfort during lip filler.

The steps we take towards minimising your discomfort may surprise and reassure you. Our aim is for you to experience a treatment during which you feel relaxed and in control.

So what steps do we take?

Topical lidocaine

Our practitioners will generously apply a topical cream, called lidocaine, to the lip area before your treatment. This helps to partially numb the area and reduce discomfort at the injection points.

Lidocaine is the most popular numbing cream used for lip fillers. This is because it is relatively quick to start taking effect (approximately 3-5 minutes) and lasts for approximately 1-2 hours. This makes it a great choice for dermal filler treatments, especially lip fillers.

What makes topical 4% lidocaine cream our preferred choice?

  • Easy to administer (applied like a cream)
  • Works quickly
  • Lasts for the duration of your treatment

Whilst this cream won’t completely numb your lips, it’s a proven, effective way to reduce discomfort from injectables.

Lidocaine included within your filler

At The Academy Clinic we use the Juvéderm® Vycross range (either Volbella or Volift) for all our dermal filler treatments. These premium dermal fillers contain lidocaine, the same agent found in the numbing cream. This added lidocaine means your lip filler becomes increasingly comfortable as the treatment goes on.

Premium needles

In addition to premium dermal filler, the needles we use are also of the highest quality. Ensuring we use super fine needles – changing them as required during your treatment – further improves your comfort levels.

These steps mean we can keep you as relaxed and comfortable as possible during your appointment. The lip filler treatment itself will only take about 10 to 15 minutes. Most of your appointment will consist of an in-depth consultation. This is where we talk through your personal lip augmentation goals and prepare you for your treatment. Some of our patients even listen to their favourite music whilst their lip filler is being injected! As always, the choice is yours.

You can book lip filler online, or if you have any questions on the treatments we offer contact our patient coordinator on info@theacademyclinic.co.uk
